The Wild West was never any wilder than these rail trips through time! Trains were prime targets of outlaws after industry began in 1867. Keep an eye out for even more as your train rolls on down the tracks.
The trips are sponsored by the Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. The organization is committed to preserving Virginia rail history and to sharing it with the public. The Special's diesel engine dates to the 1950's and the passenger cars to the 1920's. Riders can choose either climate controlled cars or catch the fabulous views from the open-air cars. (Approximately 45% of our seats are in open-sided cars and therefore subject to weather conditions. Purchase of a ticket DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SEAT IN ONE OF THE ENCLOSED CARS. Seating is on a first-aboard=first choice basis. Reserved seating is not available.)
