For this Saturday only, the Dillwyn Station will be turned into a free fun festival celebrating the Buckingham Branch Excursions 25th Anniversary featuring the dedication of Dillwyn’s own Virginia is for Lovers sculpture with games for the kids and more! The celebration runs from 10am to 2pm. So, you can enjoy it after the morning trip or before the afternoon departure.
The trips are sponsored by the Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. The organization is committed to preserving Virginia rail history and to sharing it with the public. The James River rambler's diesel engine dates to the 1950's and the passenger cars to the 1920's. Riders can choose either climate controlled cars or catch the fabulous views from the open-air cars. (Approximately 45% of our seats are in open-sided cars and therefore subject to weather conditions. Purchase of a ticket DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU A SEAT IN ONE OF THE ENCLOSED CARS. Seating is on a first-aboard=first choice basis. Reserved seating is not available.)
