Join the Old Dominion Chapter for a visit to the logging town of Cass WV and a ride behind a Shay steam locomotive to Whittaker Station. While at Whittaker you can enjoy a beautiful view of the valley below and tour a reconstructed logging camp. En route back to Richmond, we will stop at Cracker Barrel/Texas Steakhouse (side-by-side) in Staunton for dinner.
We will depart the from the James River Bus Lines headquarters at 915 N Allen Ave in downtown Richmond promptly at 7:30 am and return at approximatly 10:30 pm.
You may choose to purchase a box lunch with turkey and cheese or roast beef and cheese, potato chips, fresh fruit, a chocolate-chip cookie, and bottled water, to bring your lunch (must fit in bus overhead), or to purchase lunch in Cass.
This event will run rain or shine. NO REFUNDS!!! Please note that the ride is in open-sided cars and subject to weather. The temperature in Cass and especially at Whittaker may be cooler and/or wetter than in Richmond, so bring a jacket. Due to the unique construction of Cass RR's cars,all ticket holders can be accommodated on the train, but depending on the load, not all may be able to occupy a seat on the trip to and from Whittaker Station.
